Join our team and make a difference! ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Maintains water production and distribution equipment such as hydrants and service lines. Maintains equipment at the assigned water and wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations. Performs routine and preventative maintenance. Operates remote water and wastewater systems located within the Roaring Creek Division. Monitors operations including using SCADA. Ensures water and wastewater systems comply with regulatory policies, procedures and rules and prepares reports for the RC remote sites. Completes customer service work orders. Updates and maintains appropriate system documentation of activities and closes work orders in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Monitors capital projects at remote sites. Company vehicle is provided. Addresses complaints and resolves issues within the area of responsibility. Responds to maintenance problems with appropriate action and understanding of process/ equipment alternatives, including troubleshooting operational problems and coordinating repairs with outside contractors and internal staff. Maintains awareness of operational conditions and/or identifies pending issues/problems, and notifies management recommending an appropriate course of action. Performs all tasks safely, professionally, and in accordance with all company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal laws, rules, and guidelines. Works closely with company employees and customers. Attends training events and seminars to keep current with regulatory changes, become familiar with new technology, and keep current with Operator Continuing Education requirements. Performs additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of field experience at a utility or related industry. A valid U.S driver’s license Must currently possess either a valid PA Class C or above Water License OR a PA Class C or above Wastewater license. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and professionally) with internal staff and external customers Strong customer service skills as this position interacts with the public Ability to work independently exercising knowledge, skill, and professionalism while making decisions affecting the treatment process. Ability to understand computers/tablets and the basic operation of database, spreadsheet and work processing preferred. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment Highly motivated and self-disciplined individual with the ability to work alone WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Completion of a lift assessment is required for employment Working conditions include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents. Company Vehicle is provided for business purposes The on-call schedule requires the candidate to be available nights and weekends to adequately staff a 24 hour/7-day operation COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements Seasonal employees / Summer internships are excluded from these requirements, however vaccinations are preferred.
