What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editor position at Aquent?
Aquent's Client is seeking a detail-oriented assistant editor to work on a variety of licensed titles.
The position involves working closely with members including editorial, global licensing, and creative operations teams, alongside licensees, to closely review and ensure high quality, an age-appropriate nature, and strong appeal of books designed for fans of this particular brand.
The ideal candidate will be a fast reader with strong communication and writing skills, a keen eye for detail, comfort with online content management systems, the ability to juggle multiple projects at once, and some experience in the publishing industry, ideally in a licensed editorial role.
The assistant editor will report to the executive editor.
Basic Qualifications:
• Review all production stages of dozens of licensed publishing titles weekly, from covers to full text reviews to art and design reviews.
• Ensure quality and age-appropriate depictions of characters, stories, and themes in projects featuring characters.
• Communicate concerns to and work on solutions with a variety of stakeholders
• Develop brand guidelines for internal and external use.
• Develop a deep knowledge base of Marvel Press’s publishing, both domestic and global.
• Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
• At least two years experience in an editorial role within the publishing industry, ideally in licensing, either as licensor or licensee
• Ability to stay organized and focused through multiple rounds of ongoing review on numerous ongoing projects, including quickly reading full books (both fiction and nonfiction); reviewing covers and interior layouts through numerous rounds of revisions; and tracking, maintaining, enforcing, and improving brand guidelines.
• Familiarity with Excel and Word
• High comfort level with learning and using bespoke online content management systems
Required Education:
