Special Needs Computer Skills Instructor - In-Home (Contract)

About Us:

Our goal is to empower students by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate the digital world confidently. We are seeking patient, knowledgeable, and experienced Computer Skills Tutors to deliver personalized, in-home instruction on a contract basis.

Position Overview:
As an In-Home Computer Skills Tutor with Arabesque Conservatory of Music, you will provide one-on-one computer literacy and digital skills training to students with special needs in their homes. This role involves assessing each student's current skill level, developing customized learning plans, and teaching a range of computer skills—from basic operation and internet safety to more advanced applications and software depending on the student's needs and goals. Your instruction will play a key role in enhancing students' ability to use technology effectively and independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine the current computer skills and learning goals of each student.
• Develop and implement personalized lesson plans that cater to the individual needs and objectives of each student, focusing on building confidence and competence in using technology.
• Teach a variety of computer skills, including basic computer operation, internet navigation, digital communication (email, social media), word processing, and safe online practices.
• Utilize engaging, hands-on teaching methods to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting lesson plans as needed to ensure continued learning and mastery of skills.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other relevant professionals to provide updates on progress and receive feedback.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest educational technology and software to ensure the most effective and relevant instruction.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a computer skills instructor, with a strong foundation in a wide range of software, applications, and technology tools.
• Previous experience working with individuals with special needs is highly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• A patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach to instruction.
• Must have reliable transportation for in-home visits.
• Availability to commit to a contract position with flexible scheduling based on client needs.

Contract Details:

• This is a contract position; specific terms, including session frequency, duration, and compensation, will be discussed with successful candidates.
• Tutors are expected to have their own laptop or portable computer and any necessary software for teaching purposes.
