Position Description:
Responsible for providing overall strategic planning and control for multiple districts in a region which may include multiple services—dining, facilities, or conference centers. Drive regional financial and operational goals for all service contracts. The VPO has full P&L responsibility and is the functional leader of either facilities, dining, or conference center operations for the entire region or business.
Scope of Role:
Total managed volume is $70M–$105M. Generally manages 4-9 DMs/RDMs of facilities and dining services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and be accountable for a safety culture that creates a work environment where no one gets hurt.
- Own the middle of the P&L and work with the RVP and Regional Finance Director and Regional Finance Managers to establish regional long-term and short-term operational and financial goals.
- Deliver ongoing tactical support for DM’s and other direct and indirect reports.
- Lead the budget and forecast process for a key business segment from an operational perspective to ensure effective operations (quality and service) and optimum profitability.
- Drive succession planning strategies. Define critical training and development needs and partner with HRD and Regional HRMs to execute key recruitment, training, and development programs.
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial business relationships with clients.Focus on retaining existing business and building base business. Provide support to key business retention efforts from an operational perspective.
- Commission and lead "Fresh Eyes" teams.
- Spearhead optimal controls and safeguards in fiscally challenged accounts throughout the region.
- Serve as the functional leader for a key business sales process, partnering closely with the sales team.Assist operational personnel in planning to drive optimal performance on all new business start-ups. Review strategic new sales proformas; coach operators in financial modeling skills.
- Establish and maintain effective customer feedback mechanisms, rapport, and customer-focused innovation.
- Ensure all compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley, Wage & Hour, DOT, and others) by coordinating with local District Managers and implementing operational systems to ensure success.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree; may require specific degree or certification depending on the service, with 10 years experience in service appropriate operations and direct P&L leadership in multiple service dining, facilities, and/or conference center accounts.
- Track record of success in leading multiple accounts with a portfolio valued at more than $40M as a Sr. District Manager or total facilities managed budget of over $50M.
- Depending on region’s needs, may require depth of knowledge and/or experience in managing all aspects of facilities services, all aspects of dining services, and/or all aspects of conference center services.
