What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Faculty position at Arapahoe Community College?

Arapahoe Community College was established in 1965 as the first two-year college in the greater Denver area. ACC provides students with innovative and responsive educational and economic opportunities. ACC offers several focused Associate of Applied Science degrees in Business Administration that provide students with a solid foundation in business, management, entrepreneurship, and marketing as well as an Associate of Arts Transfer Degree in Business Administration. 

The Business Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Business Department. ACC Faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty may have the option to teach courses during the summer semester for additional compensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including online, hybrid, accelerated, or real-time virtually; courses are offered during the day or evening. Well qualified candidates will participate in professional organizations, have experience developing courses for traditional, online delivery, and with virtual or online teaching, demonstrated success building professional relationships and working collaboratively with constituents and outside agencies.

Faculty are expected to develop and evaluate curriculum, advise students, assess student learning, and maintain required office and campus hours. Candidates should demonstrate well defined performance objectives and high academic standards. 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master's degree in business or related content-area field OR master's degree in any field, and a bachelor's degree in business or related content-area field, from an accredited institution

  • Five years of full-time work experience in business, management, or marketing
  • Have, or qualify for, a postsecondary CTE credential including 2,000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years
  • Postsecondary instructional experience teaching various subjects within the business discipline, preferably Business law and/or Business Statistics
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • May be required to work out of and travel between ACC campus locations.
  • May require the ability to work remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports office equipment and materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This position operates in a standard office and/or classroom environment. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $63,680 to $70,194, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August - May). The projected start date for this position is August 2021; salary will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position. Benefits

Benefits for faculty are administered through the SBCCOE Trust. Effective July 1, 2015, employees in faculty positions that are budgeted at .75 FTE or more are eligible for benefits beginning on their date of hire. Information regarding benefits can be found at the CCCS Employee Benefits site. Additional information regarding leave accruals can be found in BP 3-60. Non-classified, benefit-eligible employees are also eligible for tuition assistance.

Faculty are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. ACC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457.
