Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical resources and field services for a plant lubrication program with primary areas of focus including equipment lubrication surveys, optimizing lubrication schedules, maintaining historical records, inventory management, procedure standardization, and equipment servicing.
Direct Reports / Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities
- Maintains Lubrication database including initial survey input, service history, and schedule optimization.
- Watches for equipment changes so that the database is kept current with the latest status
- Maintains system of work assessment to support resource budgeting, backlog management, and priority determination.
- Completes used oil sampling, packaging, and report assessments.
- Supports down day and EOM worklist according to schedules.
- Supports mechanical maintenance technicians and area maintenance leads with risk management controls and reliability improvements relating to lubrication considerations including used oil condition assessment.
- Interacts with the Vibration Technician and Reliability Engineer on lube issues related to lubrication optimization and risk control measures.
- Maintains sufficient inventory of lubrication products, tooling, and supplies.
- Completes weekly inventory counting and reporting.
- Completes weekly backlog assessment and reporting.
- Works with Reliability Engineer to determine OEM specification substitutions to support product compatibility and inventory consolidation.
- Completes housekeeping and upkeep of lube room and used oil areas.
- Follows up on Lubrication worksheet comments with maintenance WR to resolve issues.
- Participates in Down day/Shutdown work planning by providing priority updates, procedure details and scheduling considerations for lubrication work.
- Coordinates with maintenance planners and area maintenance leads to optimize equipment PM’s and work practices in areas of expertise.
- Provides plant-wide mechanical maintenance support on an as-needed basis.
- Actively participates in operations, quality and maintenance initiatives.
- Maintain a clean environment for all lubrication storage areas.
- Keep tooling, supplies and manuals in usable condition and in proper storage.
- When directly overseeing contractor work, completes Contractor Work Permits and Laser Forms, lockout and permit documentation.
Key safety responsibilities include:
- Must place safety as the first priority demonstrating safe working behaviors at all times and be a model for proper PPE use to include wearing a hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and other PPE as required.
- Demonstrates through use and participation the understanding of all required safety policies and procedures.
- Works actively to maintain housekeeping responsibilities.
- Maintains lockout certifications as assigned
- Responsible for taking personal safety and the safety of others as the primary consideration when performing work
- Responsible for completing safety work orders in a timely fashion based on clear understanding of priority
- Lead the process of shutting down a piece of equipment or area that you believe poses a potential safety concern to those working in the area or may result in serious equipment damage
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required experiences include:
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Post-Secondary mechanical education or trade education preferred.
- Experience using MS Office, database programs & spreadsheets is preferred.
- Experience in the use of a CMMS preferred.
- Field experience with industrial lubrication programs preferred.
- Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills required.
- Attention to detail required.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with people for problem-solving, coaching, and planning.
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Have a focus on continuous improvement and an understanding of what drives improved uptime metrics
- Ability to look for improvement opportunities, optimize to increase efficiencies and equipment uptime
- Self-motivated and strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize workload independently and manage time efficiently
- Ability to understand, develop and implement work order PM’s
- Ability to work extended hours and rotating shift as required
- Ability to work at heights in a manufacturing environment required
Physical Requirements
- Climbing and working at heights as needed including mobile ladders and aerial platforms.
- Bending, squatting, twisting as required.
- Ability to work with tools, heavy pipe reach work, pipefitting, and ability to lift from 0 to 50lbs as needed.
- Ability to walk around mill regularly and as needed checking on equipment.
- Ability to work in both hot and cold weather environments as needed daily.
- Must be comfortable moving throughout large manufacturing environment with multiple buildings
