Job Title: Assistant Branch Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt
Function: Operations
Reports To: Regional Manager


Purpose: Welcome members as they arrive to the credit union, answering questions and directing members to the appropriate department. Service member’s financial needs and transaction requests as they relate to aspects of their accounts, including, checking/savings accounts, loans, and account services. Educate members on credit union products and services. Provide members with an extraordinary experience in accordance with the credit union’s core values.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example by consciously choosing how your actions impact others
  • Welcome arriving members and answer questions to determine their needs, direct members to the appropriate person or department
  • Create and promote a positive professional image of one’s self and the credit union
  • Answer phone calls promptly and handle with professionalism

Proficiency (Prioritize work, provide quick responses to member/staff questions or concerns, suggest and follow through on projects or staff work load efficiencies)

  • Open and close the branch as required while maintaining branch security
  • Use appropriate lobby management skills and devices to ensure member arrivals are logged efficiently, ensure members are at ease while waiting for assistance, and members are assisted in the order of arrival
  • Assist in maintaining branch cash levels and ensure the accurate balancing of the branch and front line staff
  • Be reliable and dependable
  • Open, maintain, update, and close member accounts when appropriate
  • Service member’s financial needs and process account transactions, including non-monetary requests, with a high level of accuracy (i.e. cashing checks, disburse account withdrawals, receive account deposits, process account transfers, disburse monetary instruments, stop payments, direct deposits, eBanking, address changes)
  • Investigate and reconcile member’s questions/concerns with regard to their accounts or services, recommend and direct members to the appropriate department or individual when the request is beyond established authority
  • Schedule and coordinate branch and teller audits with appropriate staff
  • Call on community businesses and educational centers to develop and grow credit union relationships
  • Support the credit union’s focus on member service and sales

Professional Development (Self learner, motivate others, innovative, use sound judgement to make decisions)

  • Serve as manager in the absence of the Branch Manager
  • Mentor, encourage, and coach others to foster a supportive work environment
  • Become a subject matter expert on one or more products and services, and the resource for staff and member questions or concerns
  • Obtain and analyze credit bureau reports and approve credit union services within established authority, including loan information from members including loan document preparation, verifications and evaluation process
  • Promote and maintain a confidential environment to protect member and credit union information

Productivity (Realize member is first, use Activity Manager to log all referrals, achieve personal goals, help branch achieve goals, ask for projects)

  • Build rapport and use active listening to identify member’s needs while actively researching member accounts to determine consultative sales and cross-sell opportunities
  • Educate members on credit union policies and procedures
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of the credit union’s products and services
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals
  • Assist in branch meetings
  • Follow all credit union policies, procedures, and requirements in addition to all state and federal laws and regulations

Presence (Accessible for staff, promote and participant in Arbor Financial Credit Union activities, be active within the community, attend credit union related events)

  • Assist in ensuring that staff understands and complies with current and new policies and procedures (i.e. conduct staff meetings, facilitate staff training)
  • Arrive to work and meetings on time
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Promote and be an active participant in Arbor Financial Credit Union activities
  • Support the credit union’s focus on member service and sales
  • Exemplify the credit union’s core purpose and core values

Perform all other duties as assigned


Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required; college degree preferred
  • Two to three years of management experience including supervisory responsibilities required
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Consumer lending experience preferred
  • Service/sales experience required
