The Arc of Greater Prince William/INSIGHT, Inc. is a vibrant community of people dedicated to the nurture and care of disabled adults and children within the Prince William County area. Our call to action is to provide our clients with a life like ours whether that be through day programs or residential life. We are seeking a full-time Driver to drive agency vehicles to transport individuals with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities throughout Prince William County. The person must be physically able to operate a van safely, assist clients getting on and off the vehicle and perform maintenance checks on the vehicles. The schedule is split shift, Monday-Friday 6:30am-9:30am and 2:30pm-5:30pm, 30 hours work. We also EXCELLENT benefits for full-time employees including ZERO out of pocket costs for health insurance. Rate of pay $17-$18.50 depending on experience.
General Description
Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, the employee will drive an agency vehicle to transport individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The person must be physically able to operate a body on chassis passenger vehicle safely, assist riders, and perform pre-trip inspection maintenance checks on the vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Operate a 14-passenger body on chassis vehicle transporting individuals to and from their work sites, recreational events, and day programs.
- Assist riders getting on/off the vehicle as needed.
- Maintain safety on the vehicle that includes ensuring all individuals are in their seats and wearing a seat belt when the vehicle is operational.
- Assist individuals in an emergency.
- Assist with training staff as needed.
- Adhere to the pre-trip daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and preventive checklist.
- Ensuring that first aid and OSHA kits are replenished and checked monthly or as needed.
- Obey all local and state laws of the road; adhering to agency cell phone policy.
- The driver will personally clean the inside of the vehicle: sweep isles, flooring, windows, wipe down seats with disinfectant and all other surfaces as needed.
- Complete all necessary record keeping/paperwork and submit on time to Transportation Coordinator.
- See that repairs are done on vehicles as soon as possible and the proper person is notified: Safety inspection, oil change, tag expiration.
- Maintain working relationship with individual’s families and other employees.
- Be empathic to individual needs.
- Operate wheelchair lift safely with individuals.
- Use ADP mobile solutions for timekeeping.
Qualifications
- Physically able to operate vehicle safely and operate wheelchair lift.
- Physically able to enter vehicle without steps if steps are not available.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
- Be able to perform pre-trip inspection/maintenance checks.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license that is acceptable to agency standards.
- Provide a MVR annually to Transportation Coordinator.
- Adhere to random and annual drug test.
