Role description:

Arcadis is currently searching for a Geologist to join our team in Irvine, CA.

Role accountabilities:

What you will do:

  • Coordinate and perform fieldwork which may include drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
  • Health and safety focused. Able to comply and steward Arcadis and client H&S requirements.
  • Exhibit independent thinking skills and able to work successfully with minimal daily supervision.
  • Field data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Detailed field note collection on electronic devices and/or in legible handwriting.
  • Oversight of subcontractors during monitoring well installation, development, and abandonment.
  • Task planning and coordination.
  • Environmental permitting.
  • Technical writing, specifically work plans and reports.
  • Become a contributing member within the structured technical knowledge community of Arcadis.
  • Teaming with professionals from other disciplines to develop and implement multi-discipline solutions.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Independent thinking skills
  • Ability to work successfully in a team setting as well as independently
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time, etc.
  • Be able to travel for work away from home approximately 25% of the year with durations up to one month at a time.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Geology or related degree
  • Current and valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of previous related experience
  • GIT or ability to obtain
  • Experience working on mechanical systems (pumps, blowers, etc.)
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • CPR and First Aid Training
