Role description:
Location: Global scope/location, position can be filled in any Global GBA location. This job can be performed in any Arcadis US office
Purpose: The position is created in anticipation of the succession of the current Global Insurance Director within a 1-year period. The extensive handover period is meant as knowledge handover and to get fully entrenched into the company, the respective insurance markets, and the management of the captive cell insurance company.
The Global Insurance function has been established within Arcadis to procure and maintain global insurance programs to protect the Arcadis group against identified, insurable risks. The Global Insurance Director is accountable for the setup and maintenance of the Insurance function and programs, the management of the captive cell insurance company, and reports to the Global Treasury and Insurance Director as part of the wider Treasury team.
The Global Insurance Director is responsible for the procurement and maintenance of the global insurance programs as well as for the safeguarding of and adherence to the insurance policies and procedures. The Global Insurance Director is globally responsible for the design, establishment, and maintenance of compulsory global insurance programs for a.o. professional indemnity, general-third party liability, cyber, directors, and officers’ liability at the best possible terms and conditions. For this, the Global Insurance Director will continuously follow and analyze the changes in the business and the insurance markets to ensure the insurance coverage is sufficient or amended at the best possible terms and conditions. The Global Insurance Director is responsible for the correct operation and oversight of the captive cell insurance company.
The Global Insurance Director works closely with the global legal function and local legal counsels with regard to insurance claims handling. The Global Insurance Director works closely with the Global Risk Management function to ensure standardized risk management practices and mitigants are well embedded in business operations. Furthermore, there is close collaboration with a wide and diverse range of colleagues in project bidding and execution as well as in Finance such as Treasury and Insurance Control, Accounting, and Tax.

The following accountabilities are associated with the function.
- Actively managing brokers on global insurance program renewals at the best possible terms and conditions.
- Periodically review the global insurance programs to ensure that the insurance coverage remains suitable for current and future risks.
- Propose and manage changes to global insurance programs where necessary.
- Together with Treasury and Insurance Controller, oversee and report upon the management of the insurance captive cell.
- Review, control, and document the global insurance policies.
- Review, control, and document the issuing of insurance certificates.
- Ensuring that local insurance policies have been put in place as required (in conjunction with the local brokers).
- Providing a central point of contact for the local insurance representative for advice and guidance on insurance issues (claims, coverage, specific client/project requests).
- Review reporting claims and circumstances including ensuring prompt notification, explanation, and regular updates are given to insurers.
- Point of contact for the GBAs / local representatives for advice and guidance on insurance issues (claims, coverage, specific client/project requests).
- Working with the local / GBA counsels to collect and to report the details of all claims (potential, outstanding, and settled) on a quarterly basis.
- Data-driven analysis of claims and circumstances and their cause. Done in close collaboration with the Global Operational Legal Director to determine where most claims come from. The Aim of this data-driven analysis is to significantly reduce the number of claims and the amount of pay-outs.
Qualifications & Experience:

- Working experience on an academic level
- Relevant insurance certificates (“Assurantie A”, “relevant WFT level”, “RIMAP”, “ACII”).
- Experience of at least 10 years in corporate insurance, either as an Insurance Manager or broker.
- Profound knowledge of the corporate insurance market, its specific dynamics, and its players.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with professional indemnity insurance and the management of a captive cell insurance company
- Analytical mindset to recognize (project) risk exposures and translate them into insurance solutions.
- Strong communicator; maintaining contacts with internal and external parties.
- Strong collaboration and advisory skills
