Arcadis has been selected by the Gateway Development Commission to serve as a Project Delivery Partner (PDP) in connection with the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). Role description:
As a Lead Senior Cost Estimator, you will play a crucial role in scoping and estimating the costs of various aspects of the transit program, ensuring accurate and reliable cost projections for successful project execution. The position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, allowing for a combination of remote, client site, and/or in-office work.
Role accountabilities:
- Provide project scoping, design, and construction phase supervision services for a large transit program in New York City.
- Utilizing your knowledge of project controls, including cost and schedule management methods, specific to the transit industry.
- Collaborating with the program estimators and the cost estimating team to deliver accurate cost estimates for various components of the transit program, such as civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, track, utilities, maintenance and storage facilities, signal and communications systems, bus depot facilities, and wayside power facilities.
- Responsible for reporting to the program control manager on Program/Projects.
- Taking up a leadership role in cost estimating requires a combination of skills such as financial acumen, strategic thinking, and effective communication. The role involves overseeing the analyzing costs, developing estimates, and providing guidance to team members. Effective leadership in cost estimating can help ensure that projects are completed within budget.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 18 years of experience in estimating public construction projects in the New York City area.
- Proficiency in cost estimating methodologies and techniques related to construction.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of New York City construction trade unions rates and rules.
- Experience in preparing detailed cost estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), civil, structural, or architectural construction projects.
- Strong ability to produce high-quality materials within tight timeframes and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
