Role Description:
Arcadis seeks a Senior Tolling and ITS Design Engineer to join the team to lead and manage engineering projects related to tolling systems, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signals, and system maintenance. Your expertise will ensure the successful design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of advanced traffic and tolling technologies, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation systems.
Preferred location is Atlanta, GA. Pending experience, we may consider candidates in the Southeast that can travel to GA as needed for project/client meetings.

Role Accountabilities:
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage engineering projects related to tolling systems, ITS, and traffic signal infrastructure.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensure adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to achieve project objectives.
- System Engineering & Concept of Operations:
- Develop System Engineering and Concept of Operations in compliance with the Regional and National ITS Architecture.
- Tolling Systems:
- Design, implement, and optimize tolling systems and associated technologies.
- Oversee the integration of tolling systems with other transportation infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to tolling operations.
- Understanding of the utility coordination and electrical design to power the tolling systems.
- Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS):
- Develop and deploy ITS solutions to improve traffic management and enhance transportation efficiency.
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements or upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Understanding of the utility coordination and electrical design to power the ITS systems.
- Traffic Signals:
- Design, implement, and maintain traffic signal systems and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with various stake holders for practical design of the signal infrastructure.
- Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to Tolling and ITS systems.
- Knowledge on GDOT Tolling and ITS systems.
- 8 years of experience in the design of tolling systems, ITS and traffic signals. Experience in a senior engineering role is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead complex engineering projects.
- In-depth knowledge of designing tolling systems, ITS technologies, and traffic signals in the State of Georgia.
- Proficiency in Microstation, ORD and Projectwise.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Additional certifications related to ITS and tolling systems are a plus.
