Akeley Regional Community Center Emergency Shelter (ARCCES) provides safe shelter and supportive services to those experiencing intimate partner violence in our communities.
Are you interested in being part of a Team supporting those experiencing domestic violence? ARCCES is now hiring a Housing Advocate to be a part of our strengths-based team. ARCCES is a fast-paced environment providing support to those experiencing crisis and trauma. Supportive services are delivered with a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to support the goals of those experiencing domestic violence.
The Housing Advocate assists and advocates on behalf of (ARCCES) participants to locate, secure, and retain affordable permanent housing. Plans and coordinates services, identifies appropriate housing options, and interacts with landlords and other organizations on behalf of participants. Utilize a comprehensive knowledge of housing and other supportive services to facilitate linkages before, during, and/or after permanent housing has been established, and works with participants to enhance their skills in utilizing these various resources. This position also serves as a general housing resource and support to Shelter Advocates as needed. This is a grant funded position.

Qualifications:
Ability to pass a background study

Valid MN Driver's License
Insurable driving record
Critical thinking skills
Highly organized
Ability to multi-task and shift gears based on immediate need of program participants
Ability to manage a varied schedule and work independently while meeting agency goals
Ability to cooperatively work with other service providers
Represent ARCCES in a highly professional manner
Have reliable transportation
Preferred Experience:
Have or working towards a social service/criminal justice degree
Knowledge of regional housing assistance programs
Knowledge of housing application process
Experience working with a diverse population
Experience using Google Suite & Microsoft Office
Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and barriers
Knowledge of local resources
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
