Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Nuclear Engineer to serve as the Lead ICBM Warhead Lead Project Officer (LPO) to support nuclear scientific/engineering/surety efforts in and around Hill Air Force Base UT. In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead the team managing AF nuclear ICBM warhead sustainment and acquisition providing safe, reliable, and certified ICBM nuclear warheads for all combat capable nuclear missiles. This is a great position for a senior nuclear engineer to have a tremendous impact on our nation’s strategic deterrent and enable successful execution of the Government’s responsibility as ICBM Weapon System (WS) integrator. Responsibilities

What you will do…

  • Perform technical services related to System Engineering & Integration (SE&I) as directed by the Government
  • Support the Government in the preparation and review of ICBM warhead Military Characteristic (MC) documents, Stockpile to Target Sequence (STS) documents, and Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs)
  • Provide support to the Government LPO to identify, validate, verify, revise, and control warhead interface requirements
  • Identify and perform system-level trade-off studies and analyses associated with requirements, designs, program schedules, and lifecycle costs
  • Support the Government in identifying the need for and evaluating trade studies performed by LPO interagency partners and subcontractors
  • Provide support for and participate as a member of appropriate ICBM Warhead Project Officer Group (POG) sub-groups and associated working groups such as:
  • Systems Engineering & Integration Sub-Group (SE&ISG)
  • Requirements Sub-Group (RSG)
  • Safety, Surety & Reliability Sub-Group (SS&RSG)
  • Safety, Surety Reliability & Cybersecurity Sub-Group (SSR&CSG)
  • Interface Control Sub-Group (ICSG)
  • Planning and Assessment Sub-Group (PASG)
  • Joint Test Sub-Group (JTSG)
  • Maintenance & Logistics Sub-Group (MLSG)
  • Support recurring POG meetings and Executive POG (EPOG) meetings (and prepare and deliver POG meeting notes, when needed), as well as ad hoc Interagency Planning meetings and Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) as required by the Government to execute the LPO mission
  • Conduct Technical Peer Reviews on appropriate deliverables such as documents, trade studies, requirements, presentations, and any other product delivered or formally presented to or by the Government
  • Participate in the identification, planning, conduct, and analysis of technical design reviews
  • Prepare and deliver to the Government a monthly status report of Contractor activities and deliverables
  • Assist leadership with goal-setting and helps determine approaches and methods most suitable to accomplish those goals
  • Organizes, leads and assists research teams and related efforts
  • Advises and counsels with team members as unique challenges and difficulties arise
  • Reviews work and collaborates with team members

Qualifications

Required: 

  • You have a PHD with 5-7 years of experience in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related field OR an MS degree with 8-10 years of experience OR a BS degree with 10-12 years of experience
  • You have knowledge and experience in maintaining currency with the Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear weapons lifecycle phases and the Phase 6.x process
  • You have knowledge and experience in Department of Defense (DOD) system lifecycle phases and associated Systems Engineering (SE) processes
  • Must POSSESS and be able to maintain a Top-Secret clearance

Preferred:

  • You understand radiation transport with emphasis on neutron and photon transport
  • You understand nuclear fission/fusion processes, cross sections, and nuclear interactions
  • You have experience in Python, C , Matlab, or Fortran
  • You have experience with simulation software such as MCNP, GEANT, or OpenMC
  • You have good written and verbal communication skills with ability to work in team-based setting or individually with minimal supervision

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation. Min: $89,981.94 Max: $216,225.24
