Quality Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Use an Optical Comparator for measurement of parts and characteristics.
• Use video measurement equipment to measure part dimensions.
• Understand and perform to all current quality standards.
• Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required.
• Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
• Understand and use concepts like absolute position, geometric tolerance and stack-up.
• Use basic statistical techniques for evaluation of measurement data and trending including SPC and Process Capability. Other statistical background is a plus
• Have a basic understanding of machining processes to support communications of findings to the production floor.
• Accurately completes all required electronic transaction and paperwork.

• Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages and other hand held measuring devices for open set ups.
• Basic math skills , including a basic understanding of trigonometry and geometry
• Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required.
• Train others on inspection techniques and tools.
• Support and participate in the Quality Management System (QMS)
• General maintenance of equipment as appropriate.
• Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma; associates degree or higher preferred.
• Requires attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications
• Previous experience in manufacturing environment and quality background.
• Certifications is a plus

Language Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to communicate and limited presentations of quality principles and methodologies including process capability and SPC

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
