What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at ARCH?
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions:
- Presetting of Tooling to minimize machine downtime and variation
- Checking condition of all tooling and tool holders within the shop
- Ensuring machinery is properly aligned (as needed)
- Evaluating whirling inserts and re-sharpening as needed.
- Partnering with Maintenance as needed for any corrective/preventive maintenance.
- Set up machine bar feeder or robots
- Upload / download CNC programs using the DNC software
- Removal and disposition of tooling from previous setup, including line clearance
- Installation and setting of tools, guide bushings, work holding fixtures and collets per tool sheet
- Adjust machine offsets to meet the first article requirements and maintain production
- Complete setup check list and shift communication log.
- Perform in process inspections when needed or review inspection data as necessary to ensure a centered and stable process with focus on first distribution
Core Competencies:
- Capable of setting up all JPMC Swiss Star machine types or 5 Axis Mills and all parts
- Working knowledge of print reading and GD&T
- Understanding of G/M code programming
- Use of mechanical and optical inspection equipment and gauging Visual inspection
- Dexterity
- Listening/analytical skills
- Read, analyze and interpret complex manufacturing documents
- Strong manufacturing background (CNC/Metal cutting)
- Excellent organizational and communications skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
