What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Ministry position at Archdiocese of Boston?
We are looking for a self-motivated adult to participate in Youth Ministry and Faith Formation for middle and high school students in the St. John St. Paul Collaborative in Wellesley, MA. The role can be structured in a variety of ways and we are open to candidates who are looking for a part-time role, approximately 10-15 hours per week that can include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
- be on-site most Sundays
- collaborate with current Youth Ministers in our parish, as well as Youth Ministers in the area, to grow our Collaborative Youth Ministry program
- assist in the development and leadership of effective youth programs that will attract, retain and empower students in grades 7 – 12 including incorporating archdiocesan sponsored events and programs
- help coordinate leadership training and experiences for youth of the Collaborative
- integrate the youth of St. John’s and St. Paul’s into the weekly Youth Mass at 5:00 pm on Sundays
- help grow the youth involvement in our Collaborative by assisting in the coordination of the 9:00 am Family Mass on Sunday mornings
- help develop, promote and participate in periodic retreat opportunities
- provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis
- work with parish communications department to market and communicate youth events and activities via our website and various social media
Qualifications
- Degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Education or related field (or working towards one) preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership ability
- Enthusiastic and energetic attitude
