Immaculate Conception Catholic Schools is currently seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our dynamic faculty as a full-time English Language Arts & English Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. IC staff members are forward-thinking team players passionate about working with and unleashing the potential of teens. We seek candidates who are highly motivated and who will demand excellence from themselves and their students.
Responsibilities for IC's 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Academy ELA & English Teacher include word study, intensive writing, research, and literature analysis; study, research, and discussion of Literature.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience teaching at the upper elementary, middle school, junior high school, or high school / secondary level, professional work with grades 6th through 8th preferred
- A passion for writing, great literature, and a love of the English language
- A desire to share the rich tapestry of literature and explore wider issues impacting it
- Familiarity and passion for the traditional curriculum philosophy
- Experience working in a Catholic, Christian, or private school setting is a plus, but not required
- Genuine warmth and love for guiding children and their families
- Ability and interest in working as a team with families and colleagues to deliver a robust, high-quality educational program
- Benevolent outlook towards solving problems and advocating for our educational viewpoint
As an IC Teacher, you will:
- Support a faith-based learning environment
- Motivate students to advance their academic skills and high behavioral standards in preparation for high school
- Enjoy collaborating with a talented team of experienced professionals
- Develop challenging lessons based on classroom observations and assessments of individual children
- Partner and communicate with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s growth and development
- Create well-organized documentation of children’s accomplishments through notes and portfolios

Educational Background and Work Experience
- Two years of teaching experience preferred with a proven record of student achievement
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (REQUIRED)
- Current State of Michigan certification with appropriate endorsement/s (elementary or secondary). Out of state applicants must be in the process of gaining certification from the State of Michigan. (REQUIRED)
