About the position
The Project Manager provides overall direction for multiple small to medium (up to $500K) civil and utilities projects. Project Managers have overall bottom-line responsibility for profit and loss and consequently carry the authority appropriately. Project Managers provide technical and engineering support as required by the projects needed.
Day in the life
- Oversee total construction and design effort (if applicable) to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with project scope, budget, and timeline
- Act as a liaison to coordinate communication between both internal and external members on the project including, but not limited to: Clients, General Contractors, Subcontractors, Superintendents, General Foremen, and union officials
- Authorize and/or approve all project staff transactions including choice of the superintendent, general foremen, foremen, staff volume, and wages
- Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and any applicable engineering functions
- Participate in estimating projects and writing bid proposals
- Review and approve purchase requisitions, and payment approvals; send invoices and change order requests
- Assists in the implementation/interpretation of corporate safety programs and ensure OSHA guidelines are followed
- Ensure that all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to and interpret the policies
- Ensure the maintenance of all official project documentation and logs
- Maintain a thorough understanding of labor agreements and standards specific to projects
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Construction Management or equivalent in job experience, Civil or Utility experience a plus
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
- Outstanding interpersonal and team leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail and ensures maximum quality of work throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Comfortable managing multiple projects at one time
- Knowledge of general site work and utility installation standard practices particularly as they apply to excavation and concrete construction
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Software or other Civil Estimating Software a plus
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu a plus
Travel
- Travel to project sites in and out of the St. Louis metro region as needed. Travel duration is dependent on project health.
