Arcosa Wind Towers is now hiring a Mechanical Engineer. As the Mechanical Engineer, will work within elements of the sciences of manufacturing and industrial engineering while keeping continuous improvement fundamentals at the forefront. The Mechanical Engineer will use effective project management practices and be focused on identifying and implementing solutions to improve employee morale, product quality, efficiency, productivity, and safety performance throughout the plant. Generally, this position’s coverage occurs during First Shift but flexibility to provide coverage for occasional projects and tasks occurring off-shift is essential.

What You’ll Do
- Utilize computer-aided design and drafting software to generate and modify fabrication drawings
- Work cross-functionally with and provide CI support to all departments/business disciplines including production, safety, quality, engineering, and maintenance
- Provide engineering / CI support for improvement projects, product changeovers and process improvement Kaizens and workshops
- Facilitate training as needed (continuous improvement tools / lean concepts, product / process rollouts, process updates etc.)
- Utilize project management techniques including effective communication, implementation, cost/benefit analysis, and resource allocation
- Use various Microsoft and other computer software to track/manage projects, evaluate production processes, and create visual aids / management tools
- Be intentional in developing relationships with shop floor employees, learn their processes and be an advocate for sounding opportunities around production, quality, safety
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial engineering, (or a related field) from an accredited university
- Experience and moderate proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor preferred) required
- Experience and moderate proficiency in MS Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Projects, and Vizio) required
- Basic understanding of or experience with VBA preferred
- Experience in manufacturing with a focus on continuous improvement preferred
- Experience in providing training, coaching, or mentoring across multiple levels within an organization
- Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize projects and tasks
- Must be able to work independently and with a team
- Excellent communication skills across multiple mediums (verbal, written, electronic)
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and levels of cleanliness
- Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
- This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
- Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required
- Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
