What you'll do:
- Champion a culture of safety excellence leading to safe performance and compliance.
- Provide vision, direction, and strategies to deliver optimal business performance.
- Ensure business goals and objectives are in line with the overall business strategy.
- Measure and respond to performance results on a regular basis, lead the organization to take advantage of opportunities, and take corrective measures where necessary.
- Manage operating and capital budgets, and assist with forecasting.
- Lead the team toward achieving business goals, growing profitability, ensuring quality, and expanding the customer base.
- In conjunction with operations personnel, maintain or enhance communication with customers and suppliers to ensure the necessary components are in place to provide superior customer service and capitalize on opportunities.
- Lead sales and marketing strategy, maintain awareness of market conditions and the impact on the business, adjusting strategies and tactics as needed to achieve results.
- Build direct relationships with key customers, participate in industry and community organizations, and enhance the esteem and reputation of the company.
- Ensure talent management and recruiting strategies are executed to provide optimal staffing and team performance.
- Identify and present acquisition or greenfield opportunities to management
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred.
- At least 5 years of overall experience in the construction materials industry
- At least 5 years of experience in progressively responsible positions in sales, operations, or engineering, with a proven track record of leading safely, ethically, and responsibly. Prior supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of both operations and sales
- In-depth understanding of the financial aspects of a business and interpretation of financial reports
- Significant market pricing knowledge and cost awareness
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and organizational influence skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience across multiple product lines: aggregates, hot-mix asphalt, ready mix concrete, and road construction a plus
Working Conditions:
- Works outdoors in all climates.
- Exposed to loud noise, dusty environment, and machinery.
- Able to climb 40 feet and to stoop, bend or kneel in the review and inspection of plant operations, equipment and personnel.
- Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Required to wear safety equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, leather work shoes, hearing protectors, respirator, gloves and other safety equipment that may be required for the project
