Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fitness Technician is responsible for providing a safe and effective exercise environment for Olympic Center members and guests by supervising individual exercise programs, educating the individuals who are exercising, assisting with the establishment of individual exercise programs and assisting with the implementation of medically integrated fitness programs.
DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maximizes the safety of each user by assisting in fitness area supervision and fitness program development based on individual participant needs
- Conducts new user assessments and orientations according to facility guidelines
- Ensures appropriate facility access privileges for all users
- Connects to users by maintaining ongoing contact and promoting facility activities
- Assists with the facilitation of medically integrated fitness programs
- Maintains the facility and equipment in good working condition including a level of cleanliness that meets high facility standards
- Upholds facility rules and regulations to maintain a safe and pleasing environment for all users
- Serves as a positive health and fitness role model for members and guests
- Attends all regularly scheduled staff meetings and participates in required training
Qualifications
- High School Graduate 18 years of age or older
- Associates degree in Health and Kinesiology or related field preferred
- One year of experience in health/fitness/wellness preferred
- CPR and AED certification required
- Ability to lift/carry 50lbs or more.
- Frequent and prolonged bending stooping, crouching, walking, pushing, pulling and standing.
- Must use oral communication to perform work
- Must use written and/or verbal sources of information
- Excellent listening, hearing and visual skills
- Work is performed under moderate noise conditions
- Travel may be required
- Wet, humid conditions not related to weather
- Work near moving mechanical parts
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Risk of electrical shock, radiation and/or drowning
- Subjected to irregular hours
- Fast paced environment
- Subject to many interruptions
