ARDEX Americas (www.ArdexAmericas.com), is the Global industry leader in the manufacturing, innovation and development of high-performance specialty building materials.
We are hiring for a CHEMIST with extensive experience of formulating, developing and launching new products for the construction industry (specifically, experience of cement-based adhesives or levelling compounds). You will drive and lead new product development projects, closely collaborating with local and Global R&D leaders. Industry experience is essential.
This position is based at our Corporate Campus 20 minutes North of Pittsburgh International Airport.
Responsibilities:
- Formulates cement tile adhesives (CTA) or other cement based self-levelers for a variety of end-uses, utilizing professional chemical background and accepted company and industry procedures and techniques, in line with specific project requirements. Drives R&D activity within the Powders Group
- Partner with Marketing Product Managers, Sales Leaders, and external customer groups, to develop new products and improve existing product performance
- Manage and lead projects/timelines for raw materials, localizations, product issues and new product development
- Lead regular project review meetings with R&D Manager and other functional areas (i.e. Marketing, Quality Control, Technical, Production). Liaises with Global Group R&D
- Formulates, develops and evaluates cementitious products for a variety of end-uses, utilizing professional chemical background and accepted company and industry procedures and techniques, in line with specific project requirements. Project goals may require oversight or coordination of field trials, and/or participation in manufacturing scale up activities
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 5 (five) years’ experience in formulation of cement-based, construction products is essential. Tile adhesives and/or levelling compounds preferred
- Consistent and sustained track record of successful formulation and product development
- Membership in appropriate technical associations desirable.
- Ability to manage and move forward several projects simultaneously (project management and prioritization)
- Professional image and customer focused attitude. Understands "Voice of the Customer".
- Excellent business judgment; is decisive with strong influencing skills
- Ability to work as an experienced professional with little direct supervision
- Results driven and self-motivated.
- Effective writing and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
- Excellent time management, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent listening and team building skills.
- Ability / willing to travel (10-20%). Minimal over-night travel may be required on occasion. Occasional international travel.
Education:
- MS or Ph. D in Chemistry/ Polymer Science or Colloids, or, minimum Bachelor’s in Chemistry with relevant industry experience
