Job Description:
Applicants will be involved in the design, analysis, and permitting for solid waste facilities. Candidate must be able to perform in various roles in response to client and project requirements. Support projects involving a wide variety of waste management facilities such as materials recovery facilities, and waste transfer stations.
The intent of this position is to aid in all aspects of solid waste management facilities, including interface with solid waste planning staff. This person must be able to integrate into a rapidly growing solid waste practice and interface with a number of existing subject matter experts.
Job Requirements:
- Participate in the design and permitting of solid waste facilities including evaluating alternatives, engineering studies and preliminary/detailed design.
- Communicating with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and other professionals as required for the completion of the project.
- Assisting Project Managers on active projects.
- Preparing and/or reviewing technical engineering specifications and cost estimates.
- Conduct constructability and quality control reviews of design plans and specifications completed by others.
- Providing construction management services and site visits for the designed projects.
As a part of on-the-job training, this position will include training in project management and client management responsibilities.
Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interface with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies is critical
- Excellent technical writing skills for use in development of engineering reports and studies
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly self-motivated, able to anticipate and initiate subsequent project tasks, working independently or with minimal instruction
- Able to work efficiently within a predetermined project budget and schedule
- Strong organizational skills, and ability to function efficiently within a project team environment
- Ability to coordinate the regulatory agency review process.
- Basic level of familiarity with AutoCAD software (2017 or later) preferred, but not required
- 3 years of experience in the design, permitting and document preparation for solid waste facilities.
- B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Florida PE license, or ability to obtain a Florida PE license, preferred.
