Description

Provides individuals with the support needed to cope with crime committed against the elderly. Advises victims, provides education and counseling and makes referrals for other services.

  • Provides advocacy services and support to elder victims of crime.
  • Advocates for elder victims who have been subject to financial or insurance abuse scams.
  • Assess immediate crisis needs of clients and addresses appropriately.
  • Collaborates frequently with Agency employees and organizations within the community to provide support for victims of elder abuse.
  • Provides appropriate intervention while empowering elder individuals to make decisions on their own behalf to decide on their path and their actions.
  • Provides information and referral services for victims and families/caregivers regarding practical and environmental needs.
  • Recruits and trains volunteer advocates in accordance with policy guidelines.
  • Maintains compliance by documenting services provided via timely and accurate submission of reports tracking outreach and victim services.
  • Researches existing Elder Victim programs that can be implemented at the Agency.
  • Communicates regularly with Supervisor regarding scheduling of events, outreach, and availability.
  • Organizes and creates presentations within MS Office programs and Canva for furthering community knowledge of victimization and assistance available.
  • Assists in creating and implementation of policies and procedures for the Elder Victims of Crime program.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors in Social Work.
  • 2 years social work experience preferred.
  • Ability to exercise independent and sound judgement.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel out-of-the area and overnight.
  • Ability to proficiently use and perform key functions of MS Office programs and Canva.
