Job Brief
The assistant to the director works directly with the director as a liaison to staff and parents. The assistant director is responsible for supporting the director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education, for all children within the center’s care.
This includes overall support of operational management in accordance with guidelines, policies, and procedures. This also includes curriculum, staff, and facilities management. Along with the director, the assistant director, ensures that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Performs general office administrative duties, including parent and staff correspondence
- Coordinates staff scheduling and coverage
- Maintains staff management systems, health records, fingerprinting, and BCIS
- Manages and orders learning materials, curriculum resources, and supplies.
- Coordinates schedules and meetings as directed by director.
- Maintains necessary equipment and reports problems to the correct departments.
- Performs general marketing duties: social media, photography, and presents available services to community contacts and potential clients.
- Coordinates and prepares needed correspondence to stakeholders and staff.
- Exhibits punctuality and professionalism.
- Maintains confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requirements:
- A high school degree or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in early education
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in early Childhood Development is preferred, but not required
- Excellent computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in social media apps, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. This includes information management systems established by the agency or department
- Training and Technical Assistance
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong work ethic with a positive and courteous approach
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to:
- Demonstrate sound decision-making and judgement
- Plan, implement, and carry out tasks effectively.
- Organization of spaces, materials, equipment and personnel for effective completion of work.
- Functioning as part of a team and manage tasks independently
- Self-learn and quickly analyze operational issues with complex networks.
- Participate in activities for self-growth, evaluation, and on-going learning.
