Job Description – Construction Manager      

Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning construction projects and oversees progress in a timely and cost-effective manner. In this position you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordination of daily construction activities.  Daily reporting, leading project related calls, managing quality control documentation, and communicating with all project stakeholders will be required in this position. Qualified candidate will be professional in communication style, a personable leader committed to overall objectives and self-development within the company.  Travel required up to 85% of the time.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision and oversight directing construction projects from start to completion.
  • Review the project plans and specifications, building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
  • Review and provide input for upcoming bid packages.
  • Review and approval contractor payment applications 
  • Tracking insurance certificates of subcontractors.
  • Tracking and logging signed notarized releases of liens.
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance.
  • Establish meeting timetables.
  • Review the work progress on daily basis.
  • Review the project in depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to the job status.
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems, manage and mitigate risk.
  • Review all requests for information, change requests, etc. and issue appropriate response.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Assist in major facility modifications or repairs.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of proven experience in construction management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, architecture, engineering, or related field is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes means and methods.
  • Solid understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Ability to plan and see the bigger picture.
  • Leadership and human resource skills.
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Familiar with construction management software packages.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
