Summary:
The Assistant Controller, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), provides support to the CFO in the areas of budgeting, financial reporting, pricing, purchasing, payment verification, and AbilityOne reporting.
Key Duties:
· Assists with monthly closing. Duties to include accrual of liabilities, GL account review/reconciliations, preparation of balance sheet account schedules, recording of depreciation, payrolls, and adjusting journal entries.
· Maintains fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
· Prepares/submits monthly Base Supply Center reporting to National Industries for the Blind (NIB).
· Assists in preparation of quarterly and annual AbilityOne reporting.
· On a rotating schedule, reviews and verifies vendor packets for payment.
· Acts as backup to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll clerks as needed.
· Upon receipt of properly authorized purchase request, issues purchase order and procures operational supplies for AIB.
· Assists CFO in preparing/reviewing pricing for potential opportunities.
· Assists CFO in preparation of annual budgets.
· Assists in the preparation of AIB written policies and procedures.
· Complies with the policies, procedures, and regulations of AIB.
· May be required to work overtime as necessary
· Performs other duties as directed.
Minimum Requirements:
· Minimum age of 18 years old.
· Must pass a nationwide background check and drug screening successfully.
· Possess a valid government issued identification.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
· Two years of accounting and budget development experience
· One year experience in preparing and issuing financial statements or equivalent experience.
· Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices of a not-for-profit business.
· Knowledge of fully integrated financial software systems such as Visual Manufacturing and CounterPoint, as well as MS Office products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
· Ability to create and update complex spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
· Ability to demonstrate positive interpersonal relationship skills in all facets of job.
· Ability to read, write, and speak English.
· Ability to operate a computer, peripheral equipment, and software related to the program.
· Ability to operate common office equipment.
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
