Facilities Management, Lock Services, seek a Locksmith to work on door hardware and access equipment on ASU campuses.

• Repair, install, and service locks and related hardware (e.g. pinning cylinders and impressioning keys).
• Repair/install combination locks.
• Repair/maintain desk and file cabinet locks.
• Use hand tools (e.g. screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, hand files, picks) and power tools (e.g. drills, saws, grinders).
• Install and repair Panic Hardware.
• Cut new/duplicate keys from existing keys, patterns, or codes.
• Open locks for which there is no existing keys or codes.
• Troubleshoot, repair and install commercial, industrial, and residential physical security door locking hardware.
• Maintain master keying systems for both standard and small format.
• Complete work order requests through electronic work order management system and detail notes for completion (labor, material, and work notes).
• This position is located at the Tempe campus, however, may occasionally travel to other locations for coverage.
• Clearly communicate to perform essential functions of the job.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

Four years of locksmith experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the techniques for keying, repairing, installing and servicing locks and related hardware.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electronic access systems.
• Demonstrated Knowledge of computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office and databases).
• Experience in preparing labor and material estimates.
• Demonstrated Knowledge of floor plans and building schematics.
• Experience in repairing, installing, and servicing locks and related hardware.
• Experience in customer service.
• Experience in reading and interpreting blue prints.
• Evidence of effective communication.

• Walk in extreme varying temperatures to service locations throughout campus.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and climb ladders to adjust rods/internal mechanisms on doors.
• Stand or kneel for long periods of time.
• Drive University vehicles/carts.
• May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator).
• Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use.
