Strategic:

  • Develop and implement strategies, systems, processes, learning experiences, and networks that support achievement of desired academic and career outcomes (including the overall student experience) in Eller College of Management's Master of Science in Business Analytics Program.

Career Initiatives/Student Success:

  • Foster an environment for students to thrive in their educational and professional careers by creating educational content and workshops related to post-college outcomes.
  • Participate in conferences, roundtables and events of industry associations to keep iterating educational content and workshop to keep the education content relevant to the rapidly changing environment of career development.
  • Partner with other development functional areas and leadership (i.e. advising team, professional development center, academic departments) for needs assessment, process improvements, recommend solutions and implementation of career planning programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of recruiting and hiring practices, employer needs, and trends affecting the MSBA program and its students.
  • Creates practical learning assignments that help in the self and career development of each student. Ensures all assignments are completed on time and follows up with students if the work is not complete.

Advising:

  • Primary contact and sole advisor in determining educational plans, transfer credit evaluation, course selection, and exploring degree and career options; monitor students' academic progress, determine satisfactory progress toward degree, and assist students in completion.
  • Identify educational and career options appropriate for each student and assist students with evaluating each option, including possible outcomes and their implications.
  • Identify current and potential needs or problem areas, conduct GAP analysis and make recommendations to leadership; deliver on approved recommendations.
  • Provide professional development advising. This will entail counseling on all aspects of professional career goals including job search, resume review, and interview preparation, as well as evaluation of employment offers.
  • Create career related learning experiences to be conducted in various formats, including individual sessions and group workshops, encompassing discussion and presentation formats.
  • Develop rapport with students in order to best understand and meet their individual needs.
  • Document student contact in Handshake (Job Platform and Student Management System).

Partnerships:

  • Creating opportunities and building new relationships through market research with employers, industry associations and other external facing partnerships to develop career related experiences for students.
  • Attend alumni events and create/sustain relationships.
  • Significant role in creating opportunities for the students to engage with employers through recruiting employer partners to participate in events such as company visits, employer panels and networking opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge on student internship and full-time job placement processes.
  • Skills on common office software (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Skills on common career and job market sofware and media platforms (such as LinkedIn, Handshake).
  • Skills on business communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with client corporations, students and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to stay on track of tasks and timely updates of progress to team and supervisor.
  • Ability to organize events and to supervise students on career training and various engagement with corporate clients.
  • Ability to drive between Phoenix/Chandler and Tucson.
  • Ability to appropriately address urgent needs/situations.
