Job Posting for Research Professional II, Civil & Architectural Engineering & Mechanics at arizona
Prepare and collaborate with PI on project reports and peer-reviewed journal articles. The ideal candidate is expected to significantly contribute to reviewing and revising the project reports that other CATS members put together, as well as writing new reports for either of the ongoing CATS projects. The ideal candidate is also expected to write quality peer-reviewed journal articles according to the guidelines and standards of dominant journals in the field, including the “Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice.”
Prepare and collaborate with PI to submit grant proposals/scope of work to acquire research funding. The ideal candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the development of novel and practical research ideas and developing well-written grant proposals and scopes-of-work documents based on these ideas. In particular, the candidate is expected to focus on funding opportunities supported by the U.S. DOT and NSF.
Lead teams of graduate and undergraduate students for conducting original research. The ideal candidate is expected to lead teams of graduate and undergraduate Research Assistants for conducting original research topics, including the development of novel data processing approaches.
Assist graduate and undergraduate research assistants in their research. The ideal candidate is expected to help the graduate and undergraduate students in the research that each of them are leading in various ways, including answering their questions and setting up brainstorming sessions with them to help them develop their ideas more efficiently.
Participate in professional development outreach activities including, but not limited to, presenting research outcomes at local and national conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the state of the art in Data Science / Artificial Intelligence
Knowledge of the state of the art in Econometrics
Knowledge of the fundamental theories in transportation studies
Skills in Python programming
Ability to work efficiently individually and in collaborative settings
