Project Review and Mechanical Engineering Technical Support:
Reviews project documentation to ensure project requirements, quality of mechanical engineering design, compliance with University Design & Specification Standards and appropriate codes and standards.
Ensures quality and success of project design through review of construction documents and diligent observation of work.
Assists in updating/improving the University Design & Specification Standards
Provides “in-house” engineering design documents for special assignment projects.
Initiates, evaluates, and recommends potential energy conservation measures and sustainable technologies for implementation into projects.
Participates in the University’s Inter-Departmental Infrastructure Planning Team.
Seeks opportunities for engineering design collaboration and resource/experience sharing within University Facility Services and with other University Departments, e.g., Risk Management Services, Office of Public Safety, etc.
Assists PDC Project Managers in developing project scope/budgets for building mechanical systems and utilities.
Effective Project Leadership & Management:
Demonstrates successful project leadership by defining, developing, and meeting project requirements, goals, budget, and schedule.
Effectively negotiates contracts, agreements, and related documents. Provides timely and accurate management of documents and processes.
Manages project efforts in accordance with ABOR/FM/PDC policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Ensures quality and success of project design through management of design/construction team, review of construction documents and diligent observation of work.
Takes ownership and is the champion of assigned projects. Effectively leads the project team by exemplifying high standards. Facilitates and seek fair, consensual resolution to project challenges, issues, and conflicts.
Facilitate Project Coordination and Communication:
Serves as project representative for University Facility Services | Facilities Management and Planning, Design & Construction, and provides appropriate opportunities to facilitate input from project delivery team, project managers, and other stakeholders.
Coordinates and communicates project related engineering issues to FM/PDC Project Manager.
Reports current status and coordinates future milestones of projects to all relevant stakeholders and supervisor.
This position will require the employee to have to drive to project sites.
