What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investigator position at Arkansas Attorney General's Office?
INVESTIGATOR
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking to hire a qualified applicant to serve as an Investigator in the Public Protection Department. Assists consumers with a variety of inquiries/complaints and evaluates complaints if violations of consumer protection laws are involved or whether action is necessary. Mediates with businesses on behalf of consumers to achieve equitable resolutions of consumer-business problems. Refers any non-jurisdictional matters to appropriate agencies. Assists business in bringing their practices into compliance with state consumer protection laws. Presents consumer education and information during speeches and outreach programs. Investigates cases involving alleged violations of consumer protection laws. Assists in litigation preparation, including but not limited to preparing and organizing case files for review by the assigned attorney. Educates consumers about consumer-related issues and how to protect themselves against scammers and identity theft. Assists in the production of documents in response to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Knowledge of investigative methods, techniques and procedures. Knowledge of Arkansas Consumer Protection statutes. Ability to interpret and apply statutes, administrative rules and other authorities. Skill in applying investigation methods, techniques and procedures to develop evidence and compile information from records, personal interviews and inspections. Ability to prioritize, organize, interpret and present complex information. Computer skills, including but not limited to, use of Microsoft Office Suite, and other databases. The ability to handle aggressive, critical, or hostile people via the telephone or in person. Ability to make informative and entertaining presentations to the general public on behalf of the office.
