Network Support Technician Intern

Arkansas Center for Data Sciences (ACDS) is helping City Water and Light of Jonesboro hire a Network Support Technician to operate and maintain the energy and resources in Jonesboro, AR!  Self-taught, tech-savvy individuals who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting and have a passion for technology are encouraged to apply!

About the Employer: City Water and Light is one of a kind, in that, in Arkansas it is the only municipal improvement district set up which serves water, sewer and electricity to its citizens. The major advancements made by this utility can be contributed to conservative, but progressive leadership through its managers and the board of directors who have been willing to look to the future with the interests of Jonesboro in mind. This is evident by the existence of excess capacity in all three utilities and some of the lowest rates in the nation.

Internships are designed as an on-ramp to kick off an IT support career and can roll into full-time positions based on employer demand.

• Assist in the maintenance and support PC hardware running Windows environments
• Assist in documenting procedures, process and diagrams and using Office 365 products
• Assist in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of networking
• Provide end-user IT support
• Communicate, coordinate, and follow up with customers
• Answer inbound phone calls, emails, and/or chats

• Willing to serve their community
• Maintaining and installing Windows Operating System
• Knowledge of reporting and data analysis
• Ability to maintain and support the systems
• Knowledge of networking, active directory, and maintaining the systems in and out the office.
• Have a strong desire to learn multiple development environments for process control and data acquisition
• Able to work in a team-based office and field environment
• Be willing to learn Human Machine Interface

• Ability to work in the United States without a current or future need for visa sponsorship
• Current Arkansas state resident
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to meet CWL of Jonesboro Background, Drug Screen and Physical Examination Requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to lift 40-60 lbs. and perform strenuous physical tasks

• Pay: $15/hour
• Schedule: 40-hour week: typically 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday
• Length of Internship: 3 months 
• Location: City Water and Light of Jonesboro Office in Jonesboro, AR
• This is a safety-sensitive position

How does the interview process work? ACDS will conduct an initial phone interview and assessment. ACDS will send selected resumes to companies that match the candidate’s skills and interests. Our employer partners will decide who to interview and select the final candidates for the internship program.
