SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION:
This position reports to the Logistics Manager and has no direct reports.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
The Bulk Odorant Delivery Technician is responsible for the safe delivery and transportation of light Mercaptans (odorants for natural gas/propane) in tank trailers or other DOT approved containers. Additionally, the Bulk Odorant Delivery Technician is self-directed and responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements and safety during transportation and delivery of light Mercaptans (odorants for natural gas/Propane) to customers across North America, using Arkema’s bulk trailers and tractors, and associated equipment. The Bulk Odorant Delivery Technician will be required to make decisions regarding the operation of and or connection to Arkema’s delivery vessel and customer equipment.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
90% driving cross country, 10% technician.
- Meeting training requirements for the position of Bulk Odorant Delivery Technician. Directly supervised activity (1%)
- Driving over-the-road with a co-driver in a team environment to facilitate timely bulk deliveries of mercaptan and according to DOT regulations and Arkema standards. Self-Directed activity (90%)
- Customer Relations: contact prior to transport to ensure proper scheduling and safe access to the customer site. Self-Directed activity (5%)
- Prepare trucks and trailers for delivery schedules and ensure all equipment meets DOT guidelines and regulations. Self-Directed activity (2%)
- Complete paperwork for expenses and deliveries. Self-Directed activity (1%)
- Participate in all driver meetings and discussions. Directly supervised activity (1%).
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT:
Driver/Technician will interact with:
- Facility Operators at Pineville facility (Internal)
- Management at Pineville facility (Internal)
- Office personnel at Pineville facility (Internal)
- Marketing Manager (Internal)
- Customer Purchasing agents (External)
- Customer’s field personnel (External)
- State and local Authorities (External)
- Public Residents throughout the delivery process (External)
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near miss, accident or injury incidents.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Current Louisiana CDL license in good standing with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
- 3 years’ experience operating large, heavy duty trucks/trailers
- Previous experience or training in the petrochemical industry performing similar work
- Passing of a pre-employment DOT physical and background check
- Mechanical aptitude
- Long distance driving
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Willingness and ability to perform in a self-directed environment
DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES:
- Correct use of smart phone to operate DOT elog device
- Weekly expense reports
- Delivery reports to customer service and customers
- Other paperwork as associated to the delivery process
- Mechanical activities pertaining to deliveries, scheduling and maintaining records for Arkema logistics equipment
- Maintaining license and certificates for eligibility to perform delivery tasks
- Building customer relationships for customer’s local technicians
Salary : $39,400 - $49,800
