ENGINEERING INTERN
Our growing team is seeking an organized and proactive candidate to fill the role of Engineering Intern. Our widely published company is headquartered in a state-of-the-art design and manufacturing facility in LA, where we specialize in manufacturing architectural systems. Our talented team consists of designers, engineers, architects and software developers with a vast and exciting knowledge base.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the creation of complex and highly detailed 3d models, production files from these models, and assembly coordination. You will be a key team member who translates design intent into reality, has a passion for making things, a keen eye for detail, and is a skilled communicator. This position will focus heavily on prototyping and validating design details to be developed in projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The ideal candidate will need a strong skill base in the following:
- Utilizing equipment to prototype and iterate designs to assess efficacy and risks
- Design tools to help with assembly and fabrication of parts for the production team
- Explore and vet new technologies, methods and materials to use for future projects
- Preparing part drawings, BOMs and fabrication files
- Handling material ordering and interfacing with potential vendors
- Learn how to use ERP system to schedule production processes
- Interfacing between Design and Production Teams
- Inspecting of first run fabricated parts/assemblies against technical drawings
- Simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet schedules
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 year experience in engineering/fabrication
- 1 year experience in Solidworks or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience with hand and power tools in shop environment
- Must have a portfolio to show designs, drawings, and work
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including but not limited to: CNC routers, lathes, lasers, 3d printers and press brakes
- Basic FEA analysis to validate designs
- Has strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a mind to try new things
- Senior or recent Mechanical Engineering college graduate
- Rhino3D, CAD/CAM, Programming a plus
- Strong understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication is a plus
- Must be available to work a minimum of 25 hours weekly. Full-time is preferred
- LA local candidates preferred

The estimated base salary range for this role is $20-$27 per hour. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors
