Arlington Complex is seeking a Dean of Multilingual Learners and Dual Language [Spanish] to work in collaboration with staff members to implement the school’s instructional vision. In the 24-25 school year, we are opening two Kindergarten Dual Language classrooms and will add two classes yearly to create a DL strand within AES. The primary responsibilities of this role include instructional coaching, planning, and facilitating professional development for both ML teachers and Dual Language teachers.The Dean reports directly to the Principal. The position includes the duties and responsibilities below and other functions as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal. What Makes Arlington Unique: -We value collaboration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Dean of Multilingual Learners and Dual Language responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Leadership: Collaborate with the founding Dual Language team to ensure the successful implementation of the new program Support Team Leads and the Language Acquisition Team Facilitators in advancing projects towards instructional focus areas Welcome, orient, and screen newly arrived students and families Collaborate on the creation of teacher schedules Participate in weekly Leadership Team meetings Improve the quality of curricular material throughout the year Oversee and provide feedback on curriculum development, grade level activities, and school-wide functions Build and maintain school culture through morning and afternoon duties during assigned times Model professionalism at all times Complete other tasks as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal Coaching: Initially manage, support and develop a cohort of 10-15 teachers across grades K-4 through a continuous coaching cycle. The number of staff supported may increase in future years Observe and provide feedback on classes conducted in Spanish in the Dual Language classrooms Work collaboratively with teachers and admin to support Dual Language Learners, newcomers, SLIFE and intermediate populations of MLs Set clear expectations and standards for excellent teaching Set the vision for school-wide classroom management policies and maintain consistency across all classrooms Professional Development: Collaboratively design, plan and lead professional development aligned to the school’s instructional focus areas Seek out and create PD opportunities for yourself and teachers aligned to future goals and trajectory (e.g. excellent school visits, external PD conferences or workshops, etc.) Assessment: Lead teachers in using assessment data to improve their quality of instruction Work with the Team Lead to establish formative and summative assessments Assess new students as they join our community Assist in the organization and proctoring of ACCESS Curriculum Development: Attend relevant professional development and collaborate with outside partnerships when applicable Create a scope and sequence and pacing calendar for assigned classes Facilitate the implementation of curriculum materials in classrooms
