Job Posting for Director - Leadership Development at Arlington Independent School District
ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Director Leadership Development will oversee the district's ASPIRE AISD Leadership Development body of work. The major components include talent identification, implementation of the teacher, school and central office leadership pathways, and collaborating with school and department leaders to understand their leadership development needs to inform ASPIRE AISD leadership programming.
The Director of Leadership Development will also track and drive measures of success and impact of our talent pipeline across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Organizational Leadership, Management, Education, or other relevant degree from an accredited institution
Principal or Mid-Management certification
Experience:
Minimum of three years successful leadership experience at the campus or district level
Demonstrated experience in leadership design, coaching, and delivery of professional learning aligned to strengthening leadership skills and dispositions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP
Collaborate with department leaders to provide recommendations, strategies and support, including coaching, to leaders on best practices to strengthen leadership with an instructional lens
Demonstrate skill in coaching staff and peers aligned with the District's Leadership Definition
Facilitate leadership development programs aligned with our ASPIRE AISD pathways
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
Coordinate with departments on initiatives and support related to the development of campus and department leaders
Design and deliver professional learning opportunities for leaders that focus on building their leadership capacity
Champion the development of high potential leaders and high performers identified in the Talent Talks, and support managers in the creation and follow through on Leadership Learning Plans (LLP)
Secure consultants, specialists, and other community resources to assist in district leadership development goals
Partner with Human Resources to identify, recruit and retain a strong pool of highly skilled principal candidates who are committed to a standard of excellence and can achieve results
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Articulate the District's vision and mission to the community, and solicits support and input
Serve as an articulate, informed employee for the district in the development of district programs related to leadership development
Participate as an effective team member who contributes to District and department goals
Project a positive image in the district and community
PERSONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Seek, accept, and respond to coaching and feedback from supervisor, staff, and peers
Maintain a network of professional colleagues, membership in professional associations, attendance at relevant conferences, and exposure to professional literature in the area leadership development
Establish ongoing goals for professional learning to remain current in innovative and effective school leadership practices
Identify new research in area of leadership development to apply new knowledge and skills to improve district leadership programs
MISCELLANEOUS
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Schools Officer
