What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts clerk position at Arlington ISD?
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Obtain Class B CDL and with P and S endorsements within 90 days of employment
- Obtain Texas School Bus Driver Training Certificate within 90 days of employment
- Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy
- Five years' experience in shipping and receiving and / or automotive parts sales
- Previous school district parts department experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of light and heavy duty part types and descriptions
- Proficient in the daily use of Microsoft Office software : Word, Excel and Outlook email
Primary Purpose :
- Procure and issue parts to mechanics
- Requisition non-inventory parts when requested
- Process requisitions to obtain purchase orders when required
- Assist Shop Foreman and Parts Foreman in any capacity needed to maintain Parts and Fleet Department efficiency
- Act in Parts Foreman capacity and duties when current foreman is out of the office
Essential Responsibilities and Duties :
- Issue parts to mechanics
- Order non inventory parts as needed
- Insure all parts leaving the parts room are charged out to the proper work order
- Place and receive inventory orders
- Pickup parts from vendors when required
- Help to maintain up to date vendor status and contact information
- Possess proficient knowledge of parts manuals and online parts manuals when provided by vendors
- Process paper work in accordance with the Parts Department operation guidelines
- File paper work, including work orders and purchase orders
- Maintain the parts room office / warehouse in a clean and organized state
- Coordinate propane and diesel fuel drops when the Parts Foreman is not available
- Help to insure the best availability of parts for District vehicles
- Maintain records, work orders and documentation of parts procured
- Perform periodic audits of orders processed by the parts clerk- check that parts received against written parts orders were the correct parts
- Spot check parts clerk paperwork and service and correct as necessary to maintain processes and procedures
- Maintain up to date parts manuals and catalogs
- Coordinate with Parts Foreman when conducting periodic inventory cycle counts (3 a year)
- Coordinate with Parts Foreman when conducting end of year 100% inventory count
- Provide recommendations to the Parts Foreman pertaining to adding and removing items from inventory
- Provide recommendations to the Parts Foreman to adjust stock levels accordingly to sufficiently provide for the service departments needs
- Provide feedback to the Parts Foreman for recommended training and education pertaining to the Parts Clerk job performance
- Provide feedback to the Parts Foreman to help assist on Performance Evaluations of the Parts Clerk
- Work with District purchasing agent when required
- Drive a school bus with students onboard when needed
- Perform other duties as requested by the Transportation Director or Transportation Fleet Manager Equipment Used :
