What are the responsibilities and job description for the English language arts position at Arlington Public Schools?
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- Current knowledge regarding language arts research, science of reading and practice.
- Current knowledge of language arts materials including core programs, supplementary programs, and literature.(world, British and American).
- Current knowledge of both group and individual assessment and how to interpret the results.
- Ability to lead team meetings and language arts committees as needed.
EXPERIENCE :
- Knowledge of the full range of Virginia / APS K-12 subject matter areas.
- Knowledge of, and skill in applying, the theories, principles and practices of child development and education (K-12)
- Emphasis in Middle School English Language Arts; Curriculum Writing
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A Master’s Degree in Education or another field related to the essential functions of this class of work is preferred.
- Endorsed in Reading is preferred but not required.
- Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and / or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
