Duties & Responsibilities:

Landward Operations (LO) Instructors must be qualified in accordance with the specific requirements identified below. These include, but are not limited to the following:

• Landward Operations (LO) shall perform classroom, and laboratory instruction.
• Shall provide training in MESF landside (shore-based) knowledge, skills and operations as well as provide instructional and safety support for live-fire weapons training.
• LO Instructors must be actively engaged in the delivery of MESF Operational Indoctrination, MESF Advanced Combat Shooter, MESF TOC Specialist, MESF Mission Planning Specialist, MESF C4ISR Operator and MESF CSW Operator but may also provide training in the MESF waterborne courses as well.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

• Must have knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques to include classroom management, Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs), and student motivation.
• Knowledge of computer technology application as it applies to instructional presentation.
• Possess high personal standards of technical knowledge and professional competence in delivering training material.
• Possess the ability to perform in a military environment.
• Possess familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the U. S. Navy, military rank/grade structure.
• Possess knowledge of Navy and military terminology, and shipboard/installation environments and configurations.
• Possess an excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.

Minimum Requirements

• 2 years of experience as an instructor delivering training
• 3 years documented operational ground/expeditionary warfare experience serving in a Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, U.S. Army/USMC Infantry or Special Operations command/unit or have served as a CUIT qualified Riverine Ground Operations (RGO) Instructor at CENSECFOR LS Camp Lejeune.
• 3 years' experience in delivering weapons-based courses-of-instruction which include live-fire training, and possess/be capable of demonstrating modern dynamic combat shooting skills with optics (SU-269 Articulated Telescope and LA-5B/LA-5C Advanced Target Pointed Illuminator Light) employing service pistols and rifles.
• 3 years' experience in delivering weapons-based courses-of-instruction which include live-fire training, and possess/be capable of demonstrating the operation and tactical employment of crew served weapons to include, but not limited to:
  • Medium 62 mm machine gun (i.e., M-60, M240, MK43, MK48);
  • Heavy .50 caliber machine gun (i.e., M2HB); and
  • M203 Grenade Launcher
• Have attended the Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) (A-012-0077) (or military service equivalent), or:
  • Academic credentialing (teacher/professor), or
  • Instructor training via an academic institution.
• Academic ITC requirements should contain at a minimum, these Learning Objectives:
  • Effective communication and questioning techniques
  • Adult learning theory and principles
  • Instructional Delivery methods
  • Lesson delivery performance laboratory
  • Training environment management
  • Inter-personal skills
  • Evaluation and Feedback
• Possess tactical operational experience in the Navy's decision making/planning process; organizational and individual planning; patrol coordination; proficiency in the development and issuance of a concept of operations and combat orders.
• Possess or be able to qualify as a Second Class Swimmer in accordance with NETC P1552/16 (Navy Swimming and Water Survival Instructors Manual).
• All LO Instructors shall have completed one of the small arms instructor courses listed in paragraph 11 of OPNAVINST 3591.1 (Small Arms Training and Qualification).
• All Small Arms Weapons Instructors must be familiar with the M9/M18 Service Pistol and M4 Carbine and be capable of achieving and maintaining CAT III qualification score with the M9/M18 Service Pistol and M4 Carbine in accordance with OPNAVINST 3591 series and COMNECCINST 3591.1 during initial and all subsequent qualifications throughout the duration of the contract.
• All LO Instructors shall possess a qualification as a Crew Served Weapons Instructor. Specific qualification requirements are detailed in paragraph 11 of OPNAVINST 3591.1.

• GED/HS Diploma
