What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem Security Guard position at Arms Acres?
Arms Acres in Carmel, NY are seeking individuals for their Security Department. The Security Officers are responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment for Arms Acres patients, employees and visitors according to facility policies and licensing guidelines. Investigates and provides written reports on action taken on complaints and disturbances. Security Officer secures the buildings and equipment from loss or abuse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Make at least four tours of the building per shift, and at least two outside the building, examining and observing all doors and windows that should be locked; doors to stairwells to ascertain they are free from blockage; and that all exits are free from obstructions
- Lock and unlock all doors in accordance with established time schedule
- Respond to any alarms of unauthorized doors opening
- Assist Clinical Department and Nursing Units associates in controlling combative patients in accordance with established policies and guidelines
- Call local law enforcement agencies, as required, including, but not limited to, the removal of unruly guests
- Maintain a log of all requests and action taken on each request while manning the Security Control Center, as well as any incidents or activities affecting safety or security
- Monitor the fire alarms and follow established procedures when events occur
- Provide a detailed report of all areas checked, calls for service and infraction of safety and security policies at the end of each shift
- Act as "Manager on Duty" during the overnight shift and appropriately handle situations that may occur during the shift involving safety, security, or behavioral issues involving patients and/or staff according to Arms Acres established policies and procedures, and consult administration as appropriate
- Serves on the Safety Committee to attend and report at these and management team monthly meetings in the absence of the Security Manager
- Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior training in security, law enforcement
- Valid Driver's License
- Fluently read and write English with an ability to understand and execute verbal instructions
- New York State Security Clearance
- Ability to satisfactory pass a background check
- Knowledge of basic security and fire inspection procedures
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- BLS or CPR preferred
- Valid NYS Security License
