This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the FL AASF 2, National Guard.

Qualifications:

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open ONLY to ON BOARD excepted permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the Florida National Guard.

PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. Military Grades: Enlisted; E5- E8

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training that has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications, and have skill in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:WG12 Must have at least one year experience at the next lower level; experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

Responsibilities:

As an Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-12, you will manage, monitor or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations. Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations. Oversees installation of equipment for special missions. Expedites aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfiguration of equipment for changes in operational missions. Performs preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft. Works closely with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control personnel to report and maintain current aircraft status.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent is required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing over 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The incumbent works inside and outside in inclement weather, on icy or slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes and is subject to the danger from exposure to an environment of toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces, such as rotor heads, landing gear, explosive munitions, weapons, engine noise, heat, blast, intake suction, fast moving main gear box devices, rotating shafts, cartridge actuating devices, electrical voltage, fire and explosion caused by aircraft fuels, solvents, lubricants, paints and dusts, sharp edges, confined spaces.
