Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Litigation support from inception to trial (and possible appeal) for civil litigation matters, mostly involving real estate/construction issue. This will include drafting pleadings; reviewing discovery requests and drafting objections and responses; all under attorney supervision. The chosen candidate will also be responsible for general litigation support, as well as occasionally assisting with guardianship, probate, ad litem appointments, and real estate transactional documents. Spanish-speaking is definitely a plus, but not a requirement for consideration. Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, developing and maintaining case files;
• Scheduling of depositions, mediations, client meetings, and managing attorney calendar (trials, deadlines, reminders, etc.);
• Drafting and formatting pleading, motions, discovery, objections and responses to discovery, and correspondence with opposing counsel, courts, and clients;
• Efiling and service of pleadings and discovery requests and responses; and
• Preparing attorney for trial.

Requirements:

Searching for an experienced legal assistant or paralegal who is able to multi-task effectively and prioritize matters independently and responsibly. The job is primarily as a legal assistant/paralegal, but also includes other minor office responsibilities. The selected candidate will have the following qualifications:

• At least three (3) years' working experience as a legal assistant/paralegal;
• Excellent organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task while managing deadlines;
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
• Ability to take direction and work independently with minimal supervision.

Business Description:

This is a four-attorney office that practices in a range of fields from civil litigation, business transactional, real estate, probate, guardianship, criminal, and other selected areas. While there are other attorneys, the selected candidate will primarily work for Mr. Gonzales while offering support to Of Counsel attorneys as needed.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
