MAIN FUNCTION :

The Quality Improvement Associate- Department of Radiology is responsible for assisting in the collection, analysis and monitoring of data used to assess compliance with regulatory requirements, operations and policies and procedures within the Arnot Health System Department of Radiology.

This position will work within a team environment to provide clerical and administrative support in the Radiology Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT :

1.Has a general understanding of medical terminology and is comfortable navigating within the electronic medical record and various Radiology Department applications.

2.Assumes the daily organizational responsibility for quality improvement and compliance for the Arnot Health System Department of Radiology.

3.Has or is able to gain knowledge of regulatory requirements in a healthcare setting.

4.Identifies areas of compliance and opportunities for process improvement.

5.Assists with quality and performance improvement projects.

CLERICAL :

1.Promptly answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner.

2.Takes messages and disseminates information to the appropriate personnel.

3.Demonstrates the ability to utilize various telephone applications such as call forwarding and establishing conference calls.

4.Demonstrates the ability to communicate courteously and effectively with internal & external customers.

5.Demonstrates a thorough understanding of medical terminology.

6.Is knowledgeable of the different types of radiology procedures.

8.Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to order radiology exams in the Hospital HIS / RIS.

9.Demonstrates knowledge and functionality of PACS disc creation, outside disc importing, iConnect access and distribution.

10.Is responsible for producing and tracking Radiology discs / iConnect for legal cases requirements.

11.Demonstrates the ability to be cross-trained to other responsibilities of the department as required.

COMPUTER SKILLS :

1.Demonstrates basic computer skills.

2.Demonstrates the ability to work within the Medical Center HIS / RIS.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP :

1.Has general knowledge of the Medical Center’s departments and how these departments interact.

2.Interacts with physician and physician’s offices in a positive and courteous manner.

3.Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with other health team members.

4.May perform other duties as requested by supervisor / manager which contributes to the smooth operation of the department.

1.Demonstrates reliability in the conscientious, complete and accurate manner in which work assignments are performed.

2. Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule to meet the needs of the department.

3. Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks as required by the position.

4. Continuously utilizes time to maximize full potential, sets priorities and uses good organizational skills.

SAFETY :

1.Functions within an awareness of risk management and safety issues, and reports concerns.

2.Maintains complete understanding of the Medical Center’s emergency codes. Understands role in emergency situations.

2.Maintains professional behavior and appearance. Wears Medical Center’s ID Badge.

3.Maintains and respects patients and patient confidentiality.

4.Addresses internal and external customers in a pleasant and respectful manner, displaying courtesy at all times.

5.Attends staff meetings, mandatory in servicing and educational programs as required by the department and / or Medical Center.

6. Refrains from using unauthorized electronic devices while at work.

OTHER :

1. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

2. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer / patient by interacting with him / her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health.

EDUCATION :

High school graduate or equivalent, Hospital and / or medical secretarial experience preferred. Knowledge of Radiology procedures preferred.

EXPERIENCE :

1. Good organizational skills.

2. Patient or guest facing positions preferred retail, phone support.

3. Good customer relations skills.

4. Microsoft Office applications

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS :

No CPR required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Some physical effort required walking, bending, reaching and stooping. Work required lifting up to 25 pounds.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY :

Category III tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
