Summary
The Senior Engineering Manager Powertrain Powerpack Integration reports to the Vice President of Engineering and is responsible for managing Project Engineers and all Mechanical Engineers for projects to integrate the Powertrain Power Pack into vehicles. Projects range in scope from new customer programs to advanced research and development of future products to failure analysis and incremental improvements to existing products.
Essential Functions
Manage the engineers for the design and development of Powertrain Power Pack integration projects for military ground vehicles.
Mange the engineers that design components (or source the components) needed to connect the engine and transmission to the ground combat vehicle (intake ducting, intake filters, exhaust ducting, engine mounts, transfer case, final drives, linkages, and power take off drives).
Manage the engineers that write the Statements of Work specifications for the engines and transmissions needed for Powertrain Power Pack projects.
Manage the engineers that support powerpack validations in dynamometer cells and vehicle builds and testing at domestic and international customer sites.
Write Statements of Work, select, and managing contractors for outside contract engineering support.
Lead Project Engineers that lead proposals, lead engineering development projects, create and update monthly technical schedules, create, and update monthly hour Estimates to Complete (ETC's), and approve engineering technical reports.
Coordinate with the analysis and systems engineering groups to complete vehicle performance calculations and requirements allocations to the sub-systems.
Coordinate as needed between other engineering functions, other non-engineering functions, and support program management to meet project schedules within the budget.
Hire, train, manage, and evaluate employee performance for all Powertrain Power Pack integration engineering personnel.
Management responsibilities also include following internal engineering procedures, writing procedures / processes, owning & creating work instructions to define product design & development processes, managing the engine engineering indirect budget, and creating and tracking department metrics.
Personally lead special projects, as needed, like proposals or other special efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12 Years Experience
Experience with Powertrain Powerpack Integration
Experience with CAD and engineering analysis Software

Ideal candidate should be familiar with Engines and integration of Power packs into vehicles. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with internal resources, external customers, and Government representatives. Leadership experience is a must.
