JOB SUMMARY
The Alliance Manager for the Plasmid Business Unit at Arranta Bio will be instrumental in the planning and execution of key Arranta partnerships and client programs from the alliance. This highly visible, highly collaborative role will work broadly across the Arranta organization, the strategic partner, and all external clients cross-functionally. The Plasmid Business Unit Alliance Manager will partner across a matrixed organization including executive leadership, Process Sciences, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive results in for plasmid programs and the overall Arranta strategic partnership(s). Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, Watertown Site Head, the Alliance Manager for the plasmid business unit will be responsible for all aspects of strategic partnership(s), client program/project management, and for the effective development and communication of plans and partnership objectives to key stakeholders and executive management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans and manages the operational aspects of the plasmid business unit alliance, including joint governance, communications, coordinated development and activities, managing escalation, solving business problems, development of annual operating plans, and S&OP
- Collaborates with external and internal stakeholders to stablish strong working relationships, ensures effective governance, successful execution of partnered programs/assets, and further establishes Arranta Bio as a preferred strategic partner of choice
- Leverage input from all critical organization functions to create integrated technical/scientific development and business/operational plans for the alliance that define goals, milestones, decision points, critical path(s), financial assumptions and tracking, timelines, and alternative scenarios
- Runs and attends joint team meetings and/or on-site collaborator visits to stay abreast of program progress and tracking to contractual obligations. Serve as key point person for alliance and program/project team members on projectrelated communication, proactively identifies issues and risk mitigation(s)
- Develop and maintain exceptional business and scientific relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, working to gain consensus across organizations and striving to meet partnership goals and objectives
- Provides key Business Development support in the form of prospective client interactions, proposal development and project design, new product planning/launch
- Proactively monitors contractual obligations and deliverables for both Arranta Bio and its partner(s) to ensure responsibilities are met. Understands the relevant contractual agreement(s) in detail including strategic intent, obligations, and potential changes in the partnership agreement(s). Lead process for revising contractual agreements as necessary
- Manages and mentors Project Managers within the Plasmid Business Unit to ensure Arranta Bio is prepared for alliance interactions and that strategic objectives and deliverables for the alliance are met
- Actively identifies opportunities to improve the partnership
- Leads the development of internal tools, systems, processes, and best practices for the smooth operation of the alliance management function
- Cultivates strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers within Plasmid clients and develops deep knowledge of the client organization as well as landscape of relevant market and therapy areas.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as microbiology, cellular biology, chemical engineering, and chemistry.
- Process Development/Clinical or Commercial manufacturing, and CMC experience in biologics is preferred.
- Ph.D. in biochemical engineering or biological sciences with >5 years’ experience and/or MBA with equivalent or similar experience is a distinct asset.
- Leadership experience in an aggressively growing business environment.
- Experience securing, managing and growing long-term client relationships
- Ability to work closely with leadership to identify and prioritize opportunities and drive business results
- Must be comfortable engaging with both commercial and operations teams in a highly matrixed organizational structure
- Ability to work by influencing peers and their reports and gain their cooperation in dealing with competing priorities in the delivery of programs.
- Rational persuasion particularly in the discussions with clients.
- Strong people management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage through complex processes/projects.
- Ability to interpret and manipulate data, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make decisions.
- Ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Extremely high levels of initiative and tenacity. ? Excellent oral and written communication skills.
