JOB SUMMARY
The EHS Specialist I will support all aspects of EHS program development and implementation at the Arranta Bio Boxborough Site
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Support the development and implementation of EHS programs such as:
- Biological Safety o Chemical Safety Management o Contractor Safety,
- Hazardous Waste Management, o Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, Lockout Tagout, Personal Protective
- Equipment, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Walking, Working Surfaces.
- Create best in-class EHS training content, that is compliant, memorable, and engaging. Teach through various methods (such as instructor-led, computer based training, and blended learning)
- Prepare environmental assessments and reports as assigned.
- Conduct or review Hazard Risk Analysis, Job Hazard Assessments, and PPE Assessments according to program requirements.
- Support hazardous waste management program and compliance.
- Own the planning and management of EHS-focused Gemba walks. Track events, findings, and actions to closure. Complete and distribute reports to communicate findings, solutions, lessons-learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adequate supply of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Work with departments to ensure task hazards are assessed and appropriate PPE is identified, procured, and supplied. Communicate PPE requirements and enforce its use.
- Track EHS metrics such as EHS incident reports, training hours and communicate progress on initiatives with senior leadership and facility employees.

Required Experience: *
*
BS in Health and Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering preferred
- 5 years of related experience required within biotechnology and/or manufacturing industries
- Must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to execute local, state, and federal compliance regulations
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified
- Strong communication skills required to communicate to multiple user groups from site ownership to technician level
- Computer software proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) needed
- Excellent communication skills
- Industry-specific professional certifications (i.e. ASP, CSP, CIH) desired
- 24 hour HAZWOPER
- Experience with industrial hygiene, OSHA and EPA compliance, and emergency response
- Experience of Learning Management Systems and EHS Management System software tools
- Ability to multitask, strategically and tactically
- Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and manage through complex processes/projects
- Will interpret and carry out an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, oral, schedule, mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Employee will be required to move around the work site using pathways/ramps provided
- Communicating with others to exchange information
- Use of office equipment such as computers, telephones and filing systems will be required to fulfil duties
- Remaining in a stationary position (i.e., seated or standing if able) for prolonged periods
- Adjusting or moving objects weighing up to 25lbs
- Repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers
