Who we need

Array is adding an Assembly Fabricator to support increased demand and take on an integral role in the development process. You will review all relevant design information received from our Business Unit teams and partner with Design Engineering to create a final product that meets client expectations and requirements. In addition, you will communicate significant issues, innovate solutions and provide recommended process improvements to stakeholders.

You will focus on:

  • Innovative design. You will collaborate directly with the Project Team to establish ways to innovate by considering Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Retail principles. You will work with subject matter experts and Business Unit team members to evaluate the feasibility of concepts by considering practicality, aesthetics, budget, production cost and methods, and brand characteristics.
  • Prototype Development. You will create mock-ups, sales models, or other preliminary versions of design concepts and final designs for testing, evaluation, and promotion of discussion and further development. You will produce prototypes, pre-production models, or other final versions of engineered solutions to test against DFM principles. Throughout the modelling stage, you will research new fabrication techniques to simplify the process or find ways to develop or assemble the model efficiently.
  • Quality assurance. You will collaborate with Commercial and Production project teams to ensure project expectations are understood and achieved. You will evaluate the designs and models for feasibility, functionality, structural integrity, and ease of manufacture, proposing adjustments and design changes to simplify or improve the concepts. You will ensure the format and quality of deliverables are in line with the Array Way standards.
  • Teamwork. You will participate in team huddles, daily standups, and other unit meetings. You will follow all policies and procedures defined in the company quality system and actively support all continuous improvement initiatives. You will train new and junior members as needed.

You have:

  • The education and knowledge. You have a degree or diploma in industrial design or mechanical engineering. Or, you may have extensive direct experience. You can read and understand technical drawings and build to completion from those drawings. You are forward-thinking and solution-oriented about manufacturing and technology, innovating cost-effective and creative solutions to issues.
  • The technical skills. You have intermediate experience with Solidworks/CAMWorks, AutoCAD/Toolpath and comfort with MS Office. You have hands-on experience operating various shop equipment, including table saw, CNC, Router, Grinder, Lathe and Milling Machine. You can read various measuring instruments in metric and imperial increments, including but not limited to Tape Measure, Rulers, and Calipers.
  • The drive and motivation. You are committed to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment. You can prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm in a fast-paced department and seek out new projects upon completion. You hold yourself accountable for maintaining and promoting a clean, organized and safe workshop.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have flexible and effective communication skills, including the ability to draft procedure manuals. You can build relationships, and you are comfortable reaching out to internal and external contacts to request information. You can confidently present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
