What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Technician position at ARRI Rental?
ARRI Rental, the premier Rental House for professional motion picture Camera and Lighting equipment, is looking for a Prep Technician to work in our Burbank office.
The Prep Technician role reports directly to the Floor Coordinator and Rental Operations Manager. This position functions as the go-to person on orders (rental orders, branch transfers, accessory orders, etc.) and is responsible for the pull, prep, and checkout of these orders as well as return scans and equipment quality control. Position provides checkout/return coordination and support for orders in ARRI Rental locations in North America with camera assistants/crews. Must possess a vast knowledge and understanding of motion picture cameras and associated equipment in a rental environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Exceed customer expectations by offering exceptional customer service.
- Manage multiple jobs including checkouts with high profile clients.
- Process equipment returns and missing and damaged reports.
- QC, test, clean and kit out returning equipment, so it is ready for rental.
- Develop a knowledge and understanding of both digital and analog camera systems, optics and accessories used in the motion picture industry.
- Ensure the correct cameras, associated equipment, accessories, and supplies are pulled, organized and functional for assigned orders.
- Check in any sub-rental items required for assigned orders and ensure they are available in a timely matter.
- Notify the Rental Department of any shortages or changes on assigned orders.
- Coordinate with the Service Department to ensure any malfunctioning equipment is serviced and completed prior to the assigned prep with the client.
- Communicate effectively with the Floor Coordinator and Operations Manager regarding the status of all phases of assigned orders.
- Complete assigned regular duties relating to the operation of the checkout floor and warehouse daily.
- Participate in daily meetings to review workload for current and upcoming jobs as well as internal projects.
To be considered you must possess the following skills/abilities:
The Prep Technician role is required to have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent as well as a minimum 2 years’ experience on film and commercial sets, motion picture camera rental house or as a Camera PA.
- Knowledge of 35mm and Digital motion picture cameras and associated equipment.
- Fluent in the use of motion picture camera equipment and setup.
- Familiarity with PC and Mac operating system.
- Exceptional customer service (courteous, responsive, and resourceful) skills and communication skills, strong computer skills, critical thinking abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask are required.
- Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with staff or clients.
- Must be computer literate and a strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as MAC proficiency.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills a must.
- Driver’s license with clean record required. Must be able to drive company van for pickups and deliveries.
- Exemplary interpersonal and strong presentation development and delivery skills required.
The compensation range for this role within our group is $19- $21/hr. Please keep in mind that compensation offered for this role will be dependent upon an applicant’s level of experience and current applicable skill set.
